Facts About
Mental Illness and Mental Wellness

Environmentally induced mental illness, including debilitating conditions such as depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, mood disorder, substance use disorder, eating disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, has become a global epidemic. Many people do not realize they have a mental disorder nor do they understand the dire health consequences.  The costs of mental illness to a person's quality of life, economic viability and family stability are inestimable and growing.

A newly discovered fundamental physical mechanism of environmentally induced mental illness, and its positive counterpart mental wellness, is cell membrane oxidative stress.  The good news is that this knowledge of underlying mechanism renders mental illness both preventable and controllable when proper interventions are applied at the earliest stages of the illness progression.

The challenge is that conventional medical interventions aimed at symptom control, exacerbate the underlying pathology by increasing oxidative stress.  Many interventions that work best are considered ‘alternative,’ and most health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid plans deny coverage.  The absence of insurance coverage prevents access to help for the majority of those suffering until the conditions reach serious clinical stages.  And, the epidemic continues.
Mental Wellness Study

You can help yourself while helping us work toward solving this insidious and growing public health problem by participating in our comprehensive mental wellness study.  This ongoing work, to continue through the end of the year 2012, is aimed at both documenting the efficacy of comprehensive intervention protocols for preventing and managing mental illness and enhancing mental wellness, as well as achieving insurance coverage for those who choose those protocols.  There are no placebos in the study, so all of those invited to participate receive helpful interventions that mitigate these diseases.
